Ghanaian Players Abroad – 27-29 June 2014: Baah, Otoo in action

Finland

In the Veikkausliiga, Gideon Baah played the entire game as leaders HJK Helsiki went away to beat Mariehamn 2-0 on Friday.

Thomas Agyiri came on in the 81st minute as bottom TPS lost 0-1 at home to SJK on Friday.

 

Ireland

In the Premier League, Prince Agyemang played 64 minutes as Limerick lost 0-3 away at Cork City on Friday.

 

Norway

In the Eliteserien, Ernest Asante played the entire game as Start lost 1-2 away to Sarpsborg 08 in the NM Cupen on Friday.

Mahatma Otoo played 60 minutes as Sogndal lost 1-4 away to Viking on Friday.

 

Sweden

In the Superettan, Benjamin Fadi played the entire game as Värnamo lost 0-3 at home to Karim Sadat’s (on in the 75th minute) Landskrona on Sunday.

 

In the Division 1, Isaac Shaze played the entire game as Umeå drew 0-0 away with Nyköping on Sunday.

 

United States of America

In the MLS, Dominic Oduro played 65 minutes as Toronto went away and drew 2-2 with New York Red Bulls on Saturday.

Monday, June 23.

Gideon Baah played the entire game as HJK romped Thomas Agyiri’s (90 mins) TPS 5-0 at home. Agyiri was shown an 80th-min yellow card.

Benjamin Fadi scored his side’s equaliser as Värnamo drew 1-1 at home with Varberg.

 

Wednesday, June 25.

Karim Sadat came on in the 81st minute as bottom Landskrona lost 1-2 at home to leaders GIF Sundsvall.

 

Thursday, June 26.

Benjamin Fadi played 57 minutes as Värnamo lost 1-3 away to Sirius. He was yellow-carded in the 37th minute.

Gershon Koffie played the entire game as Whitecaps played a 0-0 draw with Montreal Impact at home. 93rd-minute yellow card.

Sweden

In the Superettan, Karim Sadat came on in the 87th minute as Landskrona’s late surge ensured a 2-1 away win over Ängelholm.

In the Division 1, Isaac Shaze played the entire game as Umeå went away to beat Huddinge 1-0.

Ghanaian Players Abroad – WEEKDAY WRAP – 16-18 June: Which Alhassan made it to the Serie A?

The much talked about Serie B play-off final involving two Ghanaians finally happened this week and now you know which of the Alhassans, between Masahudu and Moro, has made it into the top flight of Italian football.

Prince Tagoe was also in action and was influeential in his side’s win. Gideon Baah is slowly coming into the frame for his side HJK Helsinki, after returning from his short injury spell.

Karim Sadat came on in the 87th minute as bottom Landskrona lost 1-2 at home to Assyriska.

 

Tuesday, June 17.

Prince Tagoe played the first 45 minutes and provided the assist for the first goal as Kelantan beat Selangor 2-0 at home.

 

Wednesday, June 18.

Moro Alhassan (on in the 41st min) helped Cesena to a 2-1 away win [4-2 AGG] over Masahudu Alhassan’s (90 mins) Latina to ensure Cesena’s promotion to the Serie A.

Thomas Agyiri came on in the 66th minute as TPS drew 1-1 at home with KuPS.

Gideon Baah came on in the 84th minute as HJK Helsinki went away and drew 1-1 with his former side FC Honka.

Ghanaian Players Abroad – 13-15 June 2014: Alhassans in Serie B play-off final, Gideon Baah makes injury return

The two Ghanaians involved in this year’s Serie B play-offs, the two Alhassan’s, Moro and Masahudu, who play for Cesena and Latina respectively were in action.

Gideon Baah saw a few minutes of action after a few weeks off with injury. Prince Tagoe has also had his ITC issues sorted out and has started playing for his Malaysian side. He is yet to score.

Italy

Masahudu Alhassan played the entire game as Latina lost 1-2 away in the 1st leg of the Serie B final play-off on Sunday. Moro Alhassan was unused for the hosts.

 

Finland

In the, Gideon Baah made his injury return, coming on in the 87th minute as HJK beat VPS 3-0 at home on Saturday.

 

Ireland

In the Premier League, Prince Agyemang played the entire game as Limerick beat University College of Dublin (UCD) 2-1 at home on Friday.

 

Malaysia

In the Premier League, Prince Tagoe came on in the 60th minute as Kelantan lost 0-1 away to Pahang on Saturday.

 

Sweden

In the Superettan, Benjamin Fadi played the entire game as Värnamo lost 1-2 away at Syrianska FC on Sunday.

Ghanaian Players Abroad – WEEKDAY WRAP – 9-12 June: Fadi grabs winner, Prince Tagoe debuts for new club, Ghanaians in Serie B play-offs

Prince Tagoe has finally got his debut for his new Malaysian side, after sorting out his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) issues. His coach, the Dutch George Boateng, has waxed lyrical about his Ghanaian acquisition and it will be interesting to see the performances that Tagoe churns out.

Also, a couple of Ghanaians are involved in the Italian Serie B play-offs vying for promotion to the Serie A. Find out more.

 

Monday, June 9.

Mohammed Abu played the entire game, Bismark Adjei-Boateng came on n the 71st minute as Strømsgodset came back to beat Haugesund 2-1 at home.

Mahatma Otoo played 87 minutes as Sogndal drew 0-0 away with Odd.

Enock Kofi Adu played 88 minutes as Stabæk lost 1-2 at home to Ernest Asante’s (45 minutes) Start.

Benjamin Fadi (88 minutes) scored the winner as Värnamo hosted and beat Husqvarna 1-0.

 

Tuesday, June 10.

Prince Tagoe came on in the 83rd minute as Kelantan beat Singapore LIONSXII 2-1 at home.

 

Wednesday, June 11.

Masahudu Alhassan played the entire game as Latina drew 2-2 at home with Bari [4-4 AGG] in the 2nd leg of the #SerieB play-off semi-final. Latina go through to meet Cesena in the final.

Cesena drew 1-1 at home with Modena but won 2-1 on aggregate to make it to the final of the #SerieB play-off final where they face Latina. Both Moro Alhassan and Amidu Salifu were unused subs for Cesena and Modena respectively.

 

Thursday, June 12.

Ernest Asante came on in the 46th minute as Start lost 2-4 at home to Rosenborg.

Mahatma Otoo played the entire game as Sogndal beat Vålerenga 2-0 at home.

Both Bismark Adjei-Boateng and Mohammed Abu played the entire game as Strømsgodset lost 0-3 away at Lillestrøm.

Enock Kofi Adu played the entire game as Stabæk were thrashed 4-1 away at Viking.

Isaac Shaze played 74 minutes as Umeå hosted and beat Forward 2-0.

Ghanaian Players Abroad –7-8 June 2014: Ghanaians in Serie B play-offs, Oduro makes debut

There are two Ghanaians involved in this year’s Serie B play-offs, just like last year. The two Alhassan’s, Moro and Masahudu, play for Cesena and Latina respectively and helped in their sides’ results this weekend.

On Friday, Dominic Oduro made a surprise move from Columbus Crew to Toronto FC and he has already made his debut.

 

Italy

Masahudu Alhassan played the entire game as Latina went away to draw 2-2 with Bari on Sunday in the 1st leg of their Serie B play-off semi-final.

Moro Alhassan came on in the 85th minute as Cesena went away to beat Modena 1-0 in the 1st leg of their Serie B play-off semi-final on Sunday.

 

Sweden

In the Superettan, Karim Sadat came on in the 32nd minute as Landskrona were thrashed 4-0 away at Hammarby on Sunday.

 

In the Division 1, Isaac Shaze came on in the 15th minute as bottom Umeå gave up the lead to draw 1-1 away with Brage on Saturday.

 

United States of America

In the MLS, Dominic Oduro, making his debut for his new side (moving from Columbus Crew), came on in the 65th minute as Toronto FC beat San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 at home on Saturday.

Gershon Koffie played the entire game as Vancouver Whitecaps drew 3-3 away with Philadelphia Union on Sunday.

Khalif Alhassan came on in the 88th minute as Portland Timbers went away to beat Real Salt Lake 3-1 on Sunday.

Ghanaian Players Abroad – WEEKDAY WRAP – 2-5 June: Mahatma O-two cup brace

It’s becoming more of a norm to expect his name on the score sheet everytime now when Sogndal play. The Norway Cup game (NM Cupen) is the latest stage that Mahatma Otoo chose to act his goal-scoring play. He bagged two, helping them to progress to the 4th Round of the competition. Ernest Asante was also involved in his team, Start’s progress in the same competition.

Even though most of the European leagues are over, you can still expect updates from a few more leagues. Other Ghanaians were in action too.

 

Monday, June 2.

Ibrahim Moro played the entire game, Ebenezer Ofori played 67 minutes as AIK beat bottom Brommapojkarna 4-2 at home.

Nasiru Mohammed played the first 45 minutes as BK Häcken drew 1-1 with IFK Göteborg at home.

Khalif Alhassan came on in the 77th minute as Portland Timbers lost 3-4 at home to Gershon Koffie’s (90 mins) Vancouver Whitecaps.

Mahatma Otoo, Sogndal- --

Wednesday, June 4.

Thomas Agyiri was red-carded in the 91st minute as TPS were beaten 0-2 away at Lahti.

Mahatma Otoo scored the 1st and 3rd goals as Sogndal beat Strømmen 3-0 at home. They will meet Viking in the 4th Round of the NM Cupen.

Ernest Asante provided the assist for the 3rd goal as Start beat Vard 4-0 at home to progress to the 4th Round of the NM Cupen, where they meet Sarpsborg 08.

 

Thursday, June 5.

Dominic Oduro played the entire game as Columbus Crew came back to draw 1-1 at home with Real Salt Lake. Just the next day, Oduro announced his move from Crew to Toronto (via his Twitter).

Ghanaian Players Abroad – 30 May – 1 June 2014: Accam responds to World Cup snub with Helsingborg winning goal

On the morning of being hit with the disappointing news of not making it to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, David Accam showed a great deal of psychological strength. He shook off the sad news and got on the first flight back to Sweden to join his Helsingborg side, who were going to play a league game against Falkenberg on the same Sunday afternoon. And guess who came off the bench to grab the match-winning goal? Yes. David Accam.

Carlos Ohene and his AEL Limassol side missed out on winning the top flight Cyprus league title.

John Mensah also featured in his second game after returning from the injury he sustained in March.

 

Czech Republic

In the Czech Liga, Francis Narh scored twice, Derrick Mensah played 60 minutes as Baník Ostrava beat Slavia Praha 2-0 at home on Saturday.

 

Cyprus

In the 1.Division, Carlos Ohene came on in the 63rd minute, Ebo Andoh came on in the 80th minute as AEL lost 0-1 at home to APOEL Nicosia on Saturday, and consequently lost the league title.

 

Republic of Ireland

In the Premier Division, Prince Agyemang played the entire game as Limerick went away to thrash Drogheda United 4-1 on Friday.

 

Slovakia

John Mensah played the entire game as bottom FC Nitra beat Senica 2-0 at home on Saturday.

Sweden

In the Allsvenskan, Daniel Amartey played the entire game, Yussif Chibsah came on in the 89th minute as Djurgården went away to beat Örebro 1-0 on Friday.

Kwame Bonsu played 75 minutes as Mjällby beat Mohammed Abubakari’s (90 mins) Åtvidaberg 1-0 at home on Saturday. Emmanuel Dogbe was unused for the visitors.

King Osei Gyan played the entire game as bottom Halmstad drew 1-1 at home with 10-man Kalmar on Saturday.

David Accam came on in the 18th minute and scored the winner as Helsingborg beat Godsway Donyoh’s (18 mins) Falkenberg 1-0 at home on Sunday. Ema Boateng was unused for the hosts.

 

In the Superettan, Karim Sadat played 58 minutes as Landskrona drew 2-2 at home with Öster on Saturday.

 

United States of America

Ghanaian Players Abroad – WEEKDAY WRAP – 26-29 May: Enock Adu on target, Baah out injured

Gideon Baah ruptured a muscle and had to be taken off early in the part of HJK Helsinki’s game. The good news is that, it is not as serious as feared and he has told this reporter that he has been told to rest for two weeks for proper recovery.

Enock Kofi Adu doesn’t score much (seeing as it’s not his main duty as a midfielder) but scored important goal this week. Find out more here.

 

Monday, May 26.

Gideon Baah had to be replaced in the 36th minute as leaders HJK left it late to beat SJK 1-0 at home.

Thomas Agyiri came on in the 70th minute as 10-man TPS lost 0-3 at home to KuPS.

Daniel Amartey played the entire game as Djurgården drew 1-1 away at Gefle. Yussif Chibsah was an unused sub for the visitors.

Ebenezer Ofori and Ibrahim Moro both played the entire game as AIK drew 2-2 away with leaders Malmö FF.

 

Wednesday, May 28.

Enock Kofi Adu scored the winning goal (penalty) as Stabæk went away to beat Grorud 3-0 in extra time in the NM Cupen.

Karim Sadat started his first ever game and played the entire game as Landskrona lost 1-2 at home to Sirius.

 

Thursday, May 29.

Khalif Alhassan played the entire game as Portland Timbers beat 10-man Chivas USA 2-0 away.
